Laser cutting (and etching) is a technology that uses a laser to vaporize or char material, resulting in either a cut edge or an etched surface. A high power laser (in our case IR) is projected through a robot controlled lens and focused onto a surface. Depending on the settings in the design software and the material being used, the laser can either melt, vaporize, or burn the material creating precision cut edges or high resolution etched images. Our CO2 lasers are appropriate for cutting up to 1/4” thick wood and acrylic, as well as cardboard, paper, untreated leather and other organic materials.
