Come on in between 4pm and 9pm to meet, greet, and create! We will be having tours and Laser Cutter Demonstrations through out the night. You will have a chance to make a key-chain fob from any given image, So bring a picture or design on a thumb-drive, email it to Contact@fabville.org, or if you can’t think of what you’d want we’ll do it live on site!

Want to make bespoke glassware? Or add labels to your glass jars? In this class, students will learn how to etch the designs onto different types of glass. We will go over basic techniques for setting up your projects and the material for success. Prerequisite: signed off on Epilog Laser Cutter to etch yourself, if not the instructor can for you.

Imagine using a laser (yes, a real laser!) to etch creative designs, cut out unique business cards, develop mechanical components, and so much more. Our Epilog is a small easy-to-use laser cutter with amazing speed and etching resolution quality. After learning how to operate our Epilog laser cutter at Fabville, students will be able to cut out and etch shapes and designs onto all types of products and surfaces. This workshop will cover exporting and preparing work with Inkscape for the laser to cut or engrave materials like cardboard, plywood, and acrylic.

Basic knowledge of software like Inkscape and Illustrator recommended.

This open-source graphic design software is a great place to start whether getting into digital art or creating designs for personal or business use. The class will go over topics like: What is vector-based software? Where are the tools and components of the software? What to think about when designing for different machines versus digital?

In this workshop we will create wood block prints using the laser cutter. Your pre-made designs will be vaporized into wood, which we will then ink and press onto paper to develop high-detail designs. This modern take on the traditional printing method allows one to easily reproduce unique designs as well as develop and change designs on the fly. Please come to the course with either a black and white drawing or a vector-based image designed on a software like inkscape or illustrator.

At Fabville, we use Lightburn to operate our Blackcat Labs Laser Cutter. This dynamic editing layout and control software allows the user to not only import images to print, but to create designs within the software itself. Join us and learn how to design images for the laser cutter in Lightburn.

Looking to make custom decals or vinyl signage? Join us for Intro to Vinyl Cutting where students will learn how to operate our Roland. Take designs from any vector-based software like Inkscape or Illustrator and prepare them in CutStudio Pro for cutting. We will then go over how to “weed” designs and transfer them onto the surface of your choice.
